Our meeting on August 18th was a little different. We gathered at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum for lunch followed by a presentation by Mary Pat Higgins, its president and CEO. She not only gave a brief history of the museum's life in Dallas but also described the various exhibits which includes interactive holograms of Holocaust survivors and concentration camp photos.
Although the museum's emphasis is on the plight of Jews and other minorities at the hands of Nazi Germany it also focuses on the Declaration of Human Rights and the ongoing efforts around the world to make its provisions a reality.
Following Ms. Higgins's remarks we were taken through the museum by docents who explained the displayed features. In all, it was a very sobering and educational experience.
