On Saturday November 13, 2021, The Rotary Club of Dallas joined forces with the Dallas Police Department and the Joppee Community to host a BBQ for the neighborhood.
The purpose of the event was to allow the community an opportunity to meet police officers in a more casual setting.  Along with the food donated by our Rotary Club members and the help of Brookshires, there were bounce houses, plenty of games, and a DJ.  Nearly 100 people in attendance, including about a dozen from The Rotary Club of Dallas. Chief Eddie Garcia showed up ready to play.  You could see him tossing a football with some of the kids there.  Many of the police officers followed his lead, and were seen playing with the kids too.  At one point, a mix of officers and people from the neighborhood showed off their dance moves.  It didn’t take long before everyone in attendance had smiles on their faces.  Overall, everyone commented that it was a very successful event.  Stay tuned for a repeat performance in another neighborhood soon.
