Title: How to Use the Global Game to Grow Your Brand in North Texas Speaker: Dan Hunt, Owner of FC Dallas and Gina Miller, VP of Media and Communications
FC Dallas President Dan Hunt Dan Hunt has served as the President of FC Dallas since 2014. He also serves as a member of MLS’ Board of Governors and the league’s Business Ventures Committee. Hunt spent years working on the design and construction of Toyota Stadium and Toyota Soccer Center with his late father and American sports icon, Lamar Hunt. Since the venue’s opening in 2005, Hunt has used the venue to help establish FC Dallas as the leader in youth development in North America. Toyota Soccer Complex, a 145-acre facility complete with 17 professional-grade soccer fields, has quickly become one the most rewarding stadium designs in professional sports. Rated as one of only two five-star facilities by the 2011 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Rankings, Toyota Soccer Center has helped FC Dallas sign an MLS-record 25 Homegrown players in 10 years. In May 2017, Hunt, along with his brother Clark, ESPN and the City of Frisco officially announced that the newly-relocated Frisco Bowl (previously known as Miami Beach Bowl) would call Toyota Stadium home starting on December 20, 2017 at Toyota Stadium. Louisiana Tech became the first Frisco Bowl Champions after beating SMU 51-10. Outside of his responsibilities with FC Dallas, Hunt is involved in the Hunt family’s long-standing interest in the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. During the 2010 season, Hunt assisted in the renovation of Arrowhead Stadium. In 2016, Hunt and Robert Casterline loaned their multi-million dollar football card collection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. Considered by many the most valued collection of football trading cards in the world, the collection includes rare complete sets, important rookie cards as well as informational displays which tell the story of American football and the hobby of card collecting. Hunt began his business career as Vice President of New Business Development for Gemini Voice Solutions in New York City, a provider of voice-over internet protocol for home-to-home calling in the United States. Hunt was born on Nov. 21, 1976 in Dallas, Texas and graduated from the St. Mark’s School of Texas in 1996. Hunt and his wife, Toni, have two daughters, Darlington and Tennyson. The Hunts are involved in the Texas Women’s Foundation as well as a variety of other philanthropic organizations throughout Dallas/Fort Worth. Gina Miller Bio Gina Miller serves as FC Dallas’ Vice President of Media and Communications, overseeing communications and public relations strategy as well as the MLS club’s digital and social media. FC Dallas experienced a 41% year-over-year growth across all social media platforms in her first year spearheading the club’s content. She produces and hosts team broadcasts and serves as the spokesperson for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium. Miller is a familiar face in the Dallas/Fort Worth market and beyond. She is an award-winning sportscaster who worked at KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles, at CBS11/TXA21, NBC5-TV and WFAA-TV in DFW, WBIR-TV in Knoxville and KUAM-TV in Guam. She also worked for the Dallas Cowboys as a member of the team’s award-winning television department from 1999-2002. While at CBS11/TXA21, Miller hosted the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers pre-and post-game shows. She started her sports media career as a media services intern for the Houston Rockets, where she won an NBA championship ring during the 1994-95 season. She has broken numerous stories, secured many high-profile interviews, won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for Best Sports Feature and has been named “Best Sportscaster” by Fort Worth Weekly. She has also worked as a media consultant at world-renowned research and consulting firm, SmithGeiger. While there she advised local TV newsrooms on news/weather strategy, digital and social media, marketing and on-air talent coaching. She is a highly sought-after speaker and also trains athletes, executives and celebrities for media appearances and speaking engagements. A New Era: Cultivation, Construction, and Conductors.
Dec. 04, 2019 11:45 a.m.
Kim Noltemy joined the Dallas Symphony Association (DSA) as Ross Perot President & CEO in January 2018. Since her arrival, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra has embarked on a bold, new strategic plan and has implemented numerous new initiatives that will have a long-term impact on the landscape of classical music in Dallas and the entire industry. Noltemy launched the DSO’s Women in Classical Music program, an initiative designed to elevate the role of women in classical music and increase female representation in the field. The program is intended to create dialogue about and opportunities for female musicians at all stages in their careers. The first two appointments as part of this program are the appointment of Pulitzer Prize-winner Julia Wolfe as Composer-in-Residence and Gemma New as the first female Principal Guest Conductor of the DSO. The inaugural Women in Classical Music Symposium will be presented in November 2019. Noltemy unveiled the DSO’s Southern Dallas Residency in November 2018. Utilizing its resources including DSO musicians, staff members, chorus members, various concert services, educational resources and funding, the DSO is implementing a multi-faceted program which is being co-designed with community organizations, educators, local artists, city officials, the local cultural community and leaders in Southern Dallas. Its educational initiative, Young Musicians, launched in summer 2019 to make the transformative power of music education accessible to all children in Southern Dallas with free instruments and lessons. The ultimate goal is for every child in the area who wants to play an instrument to have access to an instrument, lessons and performances free of charge. In May 2019, Noltemy successfully negotiated the transition of management of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center from the City of Dallas to the Dallas Symphony Association. This historic move will allow the DSA to manage day-to-day operations of their home venue as part of a comprehensive business plan to ensure the long-term sustainable financial future of the organization. Prior to coming to Dallas, Noltemy was the Chief Operating and Communications Officer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, and Tanglewood since 2015 where she managed a 65-person team. She started her tenure at the BSO in 1996 as the Director of Sales and Marketing and was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer in 2007. Noltemy also served as the President of Boston 4 Celebrations (B4), a separate not-for-profit organization that produces the July 4th festivities in Boston, which are attended by 500,000 people and are broadcast globally on Bloomberg's multi-channel network. She oversaw more than $46 million in ticket sales and other earned revenue plus a corporate sponsorship program of $6 million annually. She also successfully raised funds for numerous projects including the July 4 Celebration, Orchestra in Residence Community Programs, free community concerts, television shows, online initiatives and a new video production studio at Symphony Hall. Noltemy was the strategist behind the BSO’s new media efforts, including the BSO’s digital download service, Internet TV, podcasts and the BSO’s website, which is the most visited website of any orchestra in the U.S. She has executive produced numerous television shows including two seasons of New Tanglewood Tales, distributed by American Public Media, and three Boston Pops television programs, two of which received New England Emmy Awards. |
